"I have wanted to try leather work for a long time now but found that tuition was hard to find and materials were expensive; how do i know which leather is best and what tools do I really need? what is colouring and what techniques work best?
Buying online is quite easy these days but it can still be quite daunting trying to decipher what is best for your specific needs.
Eventually I decided to take the gamble and bought some leather and a few tools, and gradually worked myself through the process.
With materials being so expensive I found that it was going to be necessary to sell some of my projects to fund my hobby. This is how Little Egret Fine Crafts was born.
It has been an enjoyable year taking my wares to our local Coolalinga Markets each Saturday morning and seeing my work going to new homes. There has been some really encouraging feedback. To add some fun and participate with other leathercrafters I also exhibited some of my work in the Royal Melbourne and Royal Adelaide Shows, and was lucky to have won a couple of prizes and received some helpful critique as well.
I'm looking forward to making more original designs. Keep visiting for updates and new products in the Gallery page.
