I have just returned from an interstate visit to a couple of my suppliers, where I was able to browse in person. Usually limited to buying in my supplies via internet and freight, it was lovely to be able to see where it all actually comes from, and the people I'm dealing with. I had a wonderful time at Leffler and Sons in Melbourne where the warehouse is huge; it took quite a while to browse first before deciding what to buy. I had to stop myself buying too many belt buckles!
Adelaide Leather Supplies was a smaller shop, but crammed full of goodies. I found some great conchos there and some finer leather which I hope will make lovely slim wallets and purses.
Another interesting visit was to a fellow the Leathersmith and Bush Gallery in Hahndorf which was very inspiring and reassuring too, as I feel that I'm on the right track with what I'm doing. They have some lovely items in there - wonderful stamped leather with some really effective dyeing, everything is great quality.
So now I can go forth well equipped to produce some great stuff for my shop, and to take to the next Territory Made Market in April. Can't wait to get stuck in!
